Request of the catholic priests to Pope Benedict XVI
Most Holy Father,
We would like to thank you for this priestly year, proof of you fatherly solicitude for us priests. On this occasion, you gave us Saint John-Marie Vianney as an example of a priestly ideal, who represents the complete gift of ourselves to Jesus Christ, priest and victim.
In order to better reap the fruit of this priestly year, in these times when vocations need to be encouraged and priests need to be supported in their fidelity to their priestly commitments, we beg of you, Most Holy Father, to proclaim Saint John-Marie Vianney Patron of all the priests of the Catholic Church, at the celebration of his feast day.
We assure you, Most Holy Father, our prayers for all the intentions of the Church, and we humbly ask you to bless our ministry.

Petition of support to the priests’ request
As faithful of the Catholic Church, we are the first ones to benefit from the ministry of these priests who are addressing this request to the Pope Benedict XVI in order to obtain the proclamation of Saint John-Marie Vianney as patron of all the priests of the Catholic Church. We strongly desire to associate ourselves to this initiative, since we are quite convinced that our sanctification depends on their love of the priestly ideal.
